Chainmaille

As I’ve begun living a mischievously creative life, I’ve come to better appreciate artists as they spend the day under their tents in the heat, peddling their creations. It takes devotion to produce an inventory and courage to put it in front of a crowd.

While I wander the booths at street shows, many times I see what someone else is doing and say, “I could do that”. This happens so often, actually, that I have to remind myself to focus. I’d happily spend my life dabbling in new things, but it’s practice that makes perfect…and inventory.

The first time I saw it, Chainmaille jewelry caught my eye. The results, from pendants to gauntlets, are amazing. Getting to that result is an extreme challenge at times. It’s a lovely way to spend a snowy afternoon, watching the flakes come down through tears of frustration when the rings don’t weave together quite right.
